Como es bien sabido, la Ciudad de México es la segunda ciudad del mundo con más museos, detrás de París. Esto significa que podemos encontrar museos de «todos los colores y sabores». Hemos hecho un recorrido por algunos museos, como los que podemos encontrar en Chapultepec, el Museo de Historia Natural, el de Antropología y el Castillo de Chapultepec. Hoy, abordaremos un museo interactivo que nuestros estudiantes visitan con nosotros.

 

Cuando pensamos en la palabra “museo”, nos transportamos a estar en un lugar lleno de pinturas, esculturas o artefactos históricos. Nos imaginamos en un cuarto donde hay exhibiciones que no podemos tocar, sino únicamente apreciar. Este museo es distinto, pues sus visitantes pueden acudir a él e interactuar con las exhibiciones, para poder sentirse parte de él, y así, aprender mientras jugamos. Fundado en el 2012, este museo busca “fortalecer la cultura de la legalidad, promoviendo los valores de la sociedad sin fines de lucro” (Gobierno de México, s.f.).

 

Este museo es una joya no sólo por sus exhibiciones, sino desde su arquitectura misma. Se trata del Ex Molino de Belén, una edificación realizada bajo las órdenes de Hernán Cortés. El inmueble, que tiene sus orígenes en la conquista, ha sido declarado como patrimonio nacional por su valor histórico y antigüedad. Esta sede alberga tres etapas de recorrido que buscan promover la confianza en la Policía Federal del país.

 

En la primera etapa, aprenderás sobre la creación de la Policía Federal. Aquí, podrás elegir un caso misterioso y usar tus mejores habilidades detectivescas, siguiendo las pistas de un crimen, para resolverlo. En la segunda sección, conocerás la evolución de la Policía hasta convertirse en el cuerpo de agentes que es hoy en día, sus herramientas, sus instalaciones y laboratorios, así como su organigrama. Es en esta etapa donde puedes probarte chalecos antibalas, cascos e indumentaria especial policíaca para protección personal: ¡Te sentirás todo un policía! Finalmente, en la tercera exhibición rendimos homenaje a aquellos elementos que dieron su vida velando por un México más seguro.

 

Al terminar el recorrido, nuestros alumnos están al tanto de la importante labor de nuestra Policía, así como la relevancia de unirnos como sociedad para poder garantizar un México más seguro.

The Police also has a Museum

 

As it is well known, Mexico City is the second megalopolis in the world with the most museums, only behind Paris. This means that we can find museums of «todos los colores y sabores». We have already visited some museums, such as the ones we can find in Chapultepec: the Natural History Museum, the Anthropology Museum and the Chapultepec Castle. Today, we will stop by an interactive museum that our students visit with us.

 

When we think of the word “museum”, we are transported to a place full of paintings, sculptures or historical artifacts. We imagine ourselves in a room where exhibits cannot be touched but only appreciated. This museum is different. Its visitors can go to it and interact with the displays, to be able to feel part of it, and thus, learn while we play.

 

Founded in 2012, this museum seeks to “strengthen the culture of legality, promoting the values ​​of the non-profit society” (Government of Mexico, n.d.).
This museum is a gem not only for its exhibits but from its architecture itself. It is the Ex Molino de Belén, a building made by Hernán Cortés’. The property, which has its origins in the conquest, has been declared a national heritage for its historical value and antiquity. This construction houses three stages of the journey that seek to promote trust in the country’s Federal Police.

 

In the first stage, you will learn about the creation of the Federal Police. Here, you will be able to choose a mysterious case and use your best detective skills, following the clues of a crime, to solve it. In the second section, you will learn about the evolution of the Police to become the body of agents that it is today, its tools, its facilities and laboratories, as well as its organization chart. It is at this station where you can try on bulletproof vests, helmets and special police clothing for personal protection. You will feel like a policeman! Finally, in the third exhibition, we pay tribute to those elements who gave their lives ensuring a safer Mexico.

 

At the end of the tour, our students are aware of the important work of our Police, as well as the importance of being united as a society to guarantee a safer Mexico.
